During morning you will take your Spanish program of 2 hrs. a day and a tour designed for you to practice your skills on wednesdays.

In the afternoon and part of noon you will enjoy an incredible variety of activities and workshops in the city, full of excitement and culture where you will be able not just to practice what you learn at school or your “Mexican family” but meet more people and get immersed in the beauty of the heart of the Mayan culture.

HOMESTAY
Living with a Mexican family is the best way to practice or learn Spanish and know more about the local culture, customs and values. Although Canadventures can arrange for you to stay in a hotel, it is far more effective - and far more fun! staying with a Mexican family. All our homestay families have been approved by Canadventures and have been instructed to speak Spanish to their guests and most of them speak english. You will be provided with three meals a day while your stay.

 

TAI CHI WORKSHOP
Participants will receive instruction from the National champion in the form of 23 and 42 who will teach them the basic positions for the TAI CHI practice as well as the concepts of this discipline. This workshop will be held after lunch at the gardens of this beautiful private sports and social club. Adequate attire is recommended for this workshop. The workshop will be 1 hr. aprox.

YUCATECAN MUSIC WORKSHOP
Participants will listen and see the composer and singer who will tell the story and reasons why they where inspired to write the song of each one of the songs they will play. This songs have a unique style known in Mexico. Participants will also have the opportunity of knowing the house and studio of one of the greatest contemporary composers… Armando Manzanero. This workshop will be held after lunch at a terrace of a beautiful home of a host family while enjoying a coffee or a typical beverage called X`tabentum made of honey and anis. At the end participants will receive copy of the most popular Yucatecan songs. The workshop will be 2 hrs. aprox.

CROSS POINT KNEET / PUB
WORKSHOP
This workshop will be given by a teacher and exhibitor of this beautiful art with wide experience who has participated in various regional exhibits. Her last work is the reproduction of the most popular buildings of different countries in the world as well as the most popular themes in Yucatán using this skill on canvass. The workshop will be of 2 hrs. aprox. And participants will be able to participate actively in the design of different models. Materials are included in the workshop. This course will be offered at the teachers studio located in a beautiful and peaceful place in the north of the city. Women are the most interested on this workshop, meantime gentlemen will be invited to play pool at a near by club while enjoying ice cold beer and snacks. (cost included)

PAINT AND CERAMICS / PUB
WORKSHOP
This workshop will be given by a teacher and exhibitor of this art with wide experience in the field that has participated in numerous local exhibits all around the year. This workshop will be of 2 hrs. Aprox. And participants will be able to interact actively in the decoration of different models. Materials are included in the workshop. The workshop will be given at the teachers academy located in a mall in the north of the city. Women are the most interested on this workshop, meantime gentlemen will be invited to a near by club while enjoying ice cold beer and snacks. (cost included)

COOKING AND DOMINO’S
WORKSHOP
This workshop will be given by a gastronomy teacher with wide experience in the field and regional cuisine that offers a specialized course every year. Among their specialties are seafood and typical products of the region. This workshop will be of 2 hrs. aprox. Ingredients are included in the workshop. Women are the most interested on this workshop, meantime gentlemen will be invited to the terrace of this beautiful house to play cards and domino’s while enjoying snaks and ice cold beer (cost included). At the end of the cooking class everybody will gather to enjoy the food been prepared.

TELCHAC REEF CLUB TRIP
Special transportation will be provided after noon. On their way to Reef Club from Merida participants will be driven by Canadventures/SLAM staff and will pass by a sanctuary of pink flamingos. At the arrival to the hotel our staff will check in at the hotel our clients and give the hotel bracelets that allows them all inclusive deal. At the end of their trip staff from Canadventures / SLAM will pick up the participants and drive them back home in Merida.

RIVERA MAYA and CANCÚN TRIP
Departure will be before noon in a commercial luxury coach (cost included) from Merida to downtown Cancún or Playa del Carmen where they will be driven in special transportation to the designated hotel located always on the Mayan Riviera. At their departure documentation will be given to the participants with their confirmation numbers and staff to welcome them at their arrival. Staff will be available 24 hrs. if any emergency. For peace of mind there is a Canadian consulate in Cancun. At the arrival to the hotel our staff will check in at the hotel our clients and give the hotel bracelets that allows them all inclusive deal. At the end of their trip staff from Canadventures / SLAM will pick up the participants and drive them back to the bus central where their charter bus will take them to Merida bus central and their host family will welcome them back. All transportation is included as well.
